ACTING/INDUSTRY WORKSHOP - TUESDAY 16th DECEMBER 2025. 7pm - 9pm
A chance to flex those acting muscles in a fun, enjoyable workshop, followed by a discussion & Q&A on the topic of SELF TAPES. Self tapes have rapidly become the industry norm for TV & Film castings and initial theatre castings. We’ll look at the do’s and don'ts & how best to present yourself on tape to give yourself the maximum opportunity of getting through to the next stage or of even securing the role.

Our core aim is for students to develop honest and truthful acting skills in an inspiring, supportive, enjoyable & fun group setting. Our workshops are for all ages & abilities & designed to build confidence, celebrate individuality & uniqueness, & develop an understanding of the craft & the industry. Workshops take place at: St Andrews Psalter Lane Church, Shirley House, 31 Psalter Lane, Sheffield. S11 8YL


The Director
Carl trained as an actor at The Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama. His television credits include: Scott & Bailey, Life on Mars, Holby City, No Angels, South Riding, Boy meets Girl, The Chase, The Girls Who Came To Stay, Shameless, Goldplated, Emmerdale, Touch & Go, Cracker, Hollyoaks, Doctors, City Central, Hetty Wainthropp, Coronation Street, Band of Gold, The Ward, The Royal & Supply & Demand. He played leading roles at Bolton Octagon, Manchester Contact Theatre, Theatre By The Lake, M6 Theatre Co & The Dukes Playhouse. Carl taught drama at North Trafford College of FE and has worked with actors for over 15 years as an acting coach/director. Carl has worked in all aspects of the industry, regularly sits on drama school audition panels, and alongside talent agent Rachel Bailey, is the co-founder of the highly successful boutique talent agency, CiekaBailey Associates.
National Theatre Connections
Carl has directed several plays for the National Theatre Connections Festival. Productions include: 'THE IT', by Vivienne Franzmann (HOME, Manchester), 'Flesh' by Rob Drummond (Crucible Theatre, Sheffield), 'Blank' by Alice Birch (HOME, Manchester), 'Extremism' by Anders Lustgarten (The Lowry), 'What Are They Like?' by Lucinda Coxon (The Lowry), 'I'm Spilling My Heart Out Here' by Stacey Gregg (Carver Theatre), and 'Same' by Deborah Bruce (Carver Theatre)
